When you talk about “Soul” in Germany, …
… many surely think of exceptional talent MIC DONET, who became well known through the first season of The Voice of Germany and his subsequently released album Plenty Of Love, which Xavier Naidoo described as Grammy-worthy and stayed in the German Top 10 for over 20 weeks. However, his journey had begun many years earlier. At the age of just 19, he signed his first record deal and released his German debut album Stille Wasser in 2004, which still enjoys cult status in the scene today. His single Jemand Da, which made it into the Top 100 of the German charts at the time, is still ringing in the ears of many.
This was even recognized by stars like Erykah Badu, Stevie Wonder and Carlos Santana, who took Mic on tour with them. In 2015, his second English album Rise and Shine was released.
Mic Donet is back after an artistic break, during which he decided to travel the world – just with backpack and flip flops. Along the way, his route took him through New Zealand, Southeast Asia, Costa Rica and the Cape Verde Islands.
“I needed to breathe, to rediscover and reinvent myself. Away from the hustle and bustle of Berlin – away from music – away from everything.”
Now he’s back! Back to urban soul. Back to German native language. Back to reset.
“His charisma, and his incredible vocal abilities, ranging from gentle hip-hop romanticism and deeply moving soul phrasing to even operatic sublimity, distinguishes him as an outstanding artist of international format.”
