“Pablo Nouvelle brings soul back to the future” – THE GUARDIAN
Pablo Nouvelle first gained international attention in 2012 with his self-released, eponymous album, described as “essential“ by Mixmag and followed by the EP ‘You Don’t Understand’ on U.K. tastemaker label Black Butter. With his first official album, ‘All I Need’ (2016), Nouvelle and his band started touring Europe, playing more than 150 shows in eleven countries. One of many highlights was touring South Africa, Mozambique and Swaziland. In 2018, Nouvelle released the follow-up album ‘Wired’, which featured U.K. soul singer Andreya Triana amongst others.
2019 saw the release of two admirable creations: ‘Piano Pieces’, a collection of raw and honest piano compositions, and the mini album ‘Atlas Internet Café’, an instrumental lo-fi homage to Seven Sisters in London.
Now off the back of releasing his recent multi-piece offering ‘Eliso Lyamu Katata’ – four songs based on samples from the Tanzanian 50s featuring the iconic Angelique Kidjo – Pablo Nouvelle pushes on toward April 2020 to deliver his new album, ‘Obsolete’. An instrumental record to dance and dream to, steeped in sounds that are colorful and warm, dirty and playful.
As a performer, Pablo Nouvelle recently played his ‘Piano Pieces’ live with a string quartet, an additional pianists and a drummer to blend the neo-classical compositions with electronic elements into a cinematic, acoustic techno oeuvre.
He also stands as an in-demand remixes and producer who’s worked with the likes of Jessie Reyez, Anne-Marie, Bruno Major and Josef Salvat whilst stepping up on remix duties for Aurora, Gorgon City and Marina & The Diamonds.
